It all began with a dream to
explore the wilds of Denali National Park,
until the realization that the bus would drop us off along the
park's single road and that would be it. Out with the map and
compass, we would be charged with navigating the wilds in an
effort to explore rugged country while avoiding close encounters
of the Alaskan Brown Bear kind.
Coming from New York's urban setting we opted for a more
controlled environment with marked trails, designated campsites
and the occasional roaming ranger. Enter Glacier National Park.
A five day backpacking trip into Glacier's backcountry was all
it took and we found ourselves scrambling to collect our
belongings so as to return permanently. That was six years ago
and we haven't looked back since.

While first researching Glacier Park we did it predominantly
online, and found it difficult to find a single comprehensive
resource. GlacierAdventure.com started out as a place to post
our photos from our backpacking trip and quickly morphed into
the very online resource we wished we had available when
planning our first visit. Since that time the internet has
grown in popularity, and the number of opportunities for finding
information online about Glacier National Park and surrounding
areas has grown.
With online travel information now abundant, we've taken a more
personalized angle. GlacierAdventure.com offers our personal
experiences while exploring area adventures. We offer the same
suggestions and ideas for fun we give to friends and family when
they come to visit, while also seeking out the opinions and
experiences of area experts.
We're ordinary people having extraordinary adventures, and we
invite you to join us as we uncover hidden gems you might
otherwise miss.
Our
Story Really Isn't Unique
Spend enough time in this part of the country and you'll find
there are lots of people with the same story. Like many before
us, we came to Northwest Montana to explore the backcountry of
Glacier National Park, fell in love with the turquoise lakes,
glacial peaks and velvet skies and essentially returned home
long enough to gather our belongings so as to live here
permanently.
Northwest Montana is comprised of generous, kind people, and
there is no shortage of volunteer opportunities to get involved
and participate in a welcoming community. As soon as we arrived
we began volunteering on the
Big Mountain as Mountain
Ambassadors, which facilitated our learning the mountain inside
and out.
Since then through the years we have participated in one way or
another in our local
Flathead County Search & Rescue,
Whitefish Winter Carnival,
Stumptown Historical Society,
Whitefish Theatre Company,
The Glacier Institute and
Whitefish Chamber of Commerce.
When we're not volunteering we're exploring. The adventures this
area offers are boundless, with new opportunities every season.
There is so much to do and see it is difficult to fit it all in,
and we live here! So it is our hope that this site will serve as
a valuable tool in your vacation planning process, helping you
to discover gems you might not otherwise uncover and select
those experiences and places that interest you and your family
most. Share with us your experiences or make a suggestion for
the site, we're here to enjoy this incredible place together
with you.
If you have never been here before prepare
yourself, you may never want to leave!
